Build the studio brief

Plan the client moment before the sign.

Choose the studio type, sign role and installation context. Then add the target date, real viewing or camera distance and usable width before deciding style, quantity or scale.

The date provides planning context; a feasible delivery plan is confirmed only after project review.

Studio-journey planning

Street, reception and portfolio walls do different jobs.

The right role depends on the client route, glass, room light, camera position, procedure-zone separation, cleanability, power and how long the identity will stay current.

Recommended studio brief

Tattoo studio or parlour · Storefront or arrival marker · Client-facing non-procedure wall

Separate the street marker, studio identity and client photo moment so one sign is not asked to solve every brand role. Plan from real pedestrian and booked-client viewpoints, then account for glass, daylight, reflections, doors, architecture and exterior exposure before choosing size. Plan the backing, fixing points, cable direction and service access without obstructing handwashing, cleaning, storage, procedure lighting or required information.

Studio & brand priorities

  • Client route from street to reception
  • Master brand, services and artist hierarchy
  • Opening, refit or campaign date

Client-moment responsibilities

  • Day and evening approach viewpoints
  • Glass, doorway and sightline context
  • Studio identity versus hours or service information

Installation & hygiene-zone constraints

  • Wall material, colour and dimensions
  • Distance from work and hygiene zones
  • Nearest power point and cable route

Take the brief with you

Copy the summary and paste it into the project notes when you upload the artwork.

This builder provides planning guidance only. Final artwork adaptation, dimensions, mounting, power, placement, permissions, pricing and timing are confirmed after the real site has been reviewed. Decorative LED neon is not procedure or inspection lighting and does not replace hygiene controls, accessibility, wayfinding, fire, safety, emergency, egress or statutory signage. Local studio and premises requirements must be verified by the operator and relevant professionals.

Choose the correct project route

A short phrase, protected studio logo and identity system are not the same brief.

Start where the decisions actually belong instead of forcing brand-critical studio work through a generic text configurator.

02

Best for a simple indoor phrase

Create a short studio phrase

Use the online designer for a straightforward indoor phrase when standard fonts and options fit a protected, dry client-facing wall and no protected brand typography is required.

  • Short approved wording
  • Protected dry interior placement
  • One sign with standard construction options

Best for collectives or groups

Scope the studio identity system

Send the master brand, stable artist uses, locations or rooms, quantities, local constraints, destinations and dates so the work can be planned as one system.

  • Street, reception and portfolio sets
  • Master studio versus artist hierarchy
  • Collectives, guest rooms and multi-location groups
Request a system proposal

Use the tailored proposal route for protected logos or artwork, glass, exterior exposure, unusual backing, several signs, artist-room systems or multiple locations, even when the visible design contains only text.

Street-to-portfolio planning

One studio identity. Three different client moments.

A storefront marker, reception logo and portfolio wall can share one identity, but not the same distance, glass condition, room light, clean-zone context or camera framing.

Choose the client moment

Where should the studio identity do its job?

Planning direction

Street & storefront identity

Give the stable studio identity a clear place in the approach sightline while accounting for daylight, glass reflection, doors, architecture, public access and the practical power route.

  • Pedestrian and booked-client approach positions
  • Day, evening and angled glass views
  • Door, fixing, backing and cable information
01

Keep procedure lighting separate

Decorative neon may support identity and atmosphere, but it must not replace dedicated lighting for tattooing, piercing, inspection, cleaning or sterilisation work.

02

Protect cleaning and handwashing access

Keep fixtures, controllers and cables away from work surfaces and from any position that obstructs cleaning, handwashing, storage or other local studio requirements.

03

Separate the permanent brand from the roster

Use neon for the stable master identity. Keep changing artist, guest, hours, aftercare and booking information in a dedicated updateable system.

The lab is a visual planning aid, not a promise of walk-ins, bookings, client trust, content reach or camera performance. Decorative LED neon is not procedure or inspection lighting and does not replace hygiene controls, accessibility, wayfinding, fire, safety, emergency, egress or statutory signage.

Plan the studio signs

Design around the client

One appointment journey. Five moments to plan.

The right sign depends on what the client is doing, from recognising the studio to consulting, receiving the service and documenting the finished work.

Discover

Recognize the studio

Window logo · entrance identity · studio name

Plan around approach direction, viewing distance, daylight, glass, architecture and any exterior exposure.

Arrive

Anchor the stable master brand

Reception logo · studio mark · short welcome

Work with the desk, client sightlines, doors, screens, required information and waiting positions.

Consult

Support the pre-service environment

Portfolio backdrop · artist identity · concise brand line

Coordinate the identity with portfolios, jewellery, screens, consent or aftercare information and consultation views.

Service

Let functional requirements lead

Dedicated task light · clear work zone · unobstructed hygiene access

Decorative neon should not replace procedure or inspection lighting or interfere with cleaning, sterilisation, handwashing or safe working routes.

Reveal & remember

Compose the portfolio scene

Finished-work photo · artist-and-client frame · studio content wall

Plan for people, camera distance, common crops, mirrors, background contrast, room light and adjustable brightness.

A multi-touchpoint opportunity

Build a Studio Identity Set.

One coordinated brief

Plan arrival recognition, a master reception anchor and a portfolio or client-photo moment as one coherent project instead of ordering unrelated signs one by one.

01

Be recognized

Street or arrival marker

Give the client approach one clear, stable studio identity sized around the real sightline and wall or glass context.

  • Studio name or master logo
  • Day and evening approach views
  • Glass or wall, dimmer and cable route
02

Be established

Master reception identity

Bring the primary studio brand into the client arrival space while keeping portfolios, screens, doors and required information visible.

  • Master studio logo
  • Standing and seated client viewpoints
  • Mounting, room-light and clean-zone plan
03

Be documented

Portfolio or reveal wall

Create a deliberate client-facing scene around people and cameras, outside active procedure and sterilisation work zones.

  • Stable studio phrase or identity
  • Client, artist and camera positions
  • Portrait, landscape and close-up framing

The set is a planning framework, not a fixed-price bundle. Quantity, dimensions, specification, placements and delivery phasing are confirmed in the tailored quotation.

Request a set proposal

For collectives, guests & studio groups

Keep the studio identity consistent.

A tattoo or piercing studio system needs a durable master brand plus an updateable layer for artists, guests, hours, booking, aftercare and other changing information.

Lock the stable master brand

Approve the studio logo, neon-ready artwork, colour, backing logic and acceptable variations before multiple units are produced.

Keep the artist roster updateable

Do not hard-code frequently changing artists, guests, schedules or service information into expensive permanent neon unless its lifespan is genuinely stable.

Map every client-facing role

Record whether each unit is for street recognition, reception, consultation, artist identity or portfolio content so hierarchy and quantities stay clear.

Track every room or location

Keep artwork version, dimensions, wall or glass, work-zone distance, power route, permission, destination, installer and date visible per unit.

Lighting for your studio identity

Protect the work environment before decorating it.

Local rules vary. The operator and relevant professionals remain responsible for premises, infection-control, lighting, electrical and signage requirements. Our brief keeps the key boundaries visible before the sign is specified.

Dedicated work lighting stays independent

Tattooing, piercing, inspection, cleaning and sterilisation need their own suitable functional lighting. Decorative neon is never presented as a substitute.

Cleaning access stays unobstructed

Keep signs, controllers and cables away from work surfaces and from positions that interfere with cleaning, handwashing, instrument handling, storage or ventilation.

Power and service access are planned

Show the nearest outlet, cable direction, controller position, fixing points and any local electrician or installer requirements before approval.

Required information remains separate

Decorative neon does not replace accessibility, wayfinding, emergency, fire, safety, occupancy, age, aftercare or statutory signs and notices.

A studio-aware process

The brand and work-zone context stay visible at every stage.

We plan the design, installation and delivery around your studio, from the client areas to the working space.

Brand, client moment & target date

Share the approved artwork, studio type, sign role, photos, measurements, viewing or camera distance, wall or glass, work-zone boundaries, room light, power route, quantity, destination and date.

Visual & technical proposal

Review the neon-ready interpretation, dimensions, component split, backing, indoor or eligible exposed direction, mounting approach, specification and price.

Approve scope & site data

Confirm artwork, placement, procedure and hygiene-zone separation, permissions, quantities, destinations and the feasible production and delivery plan before ordering.

Production, tracking & install

The signs are produced, quality checked and shipped with tracking and relevant installation information for the studio or fit-out team.

Tattoo & piercing studio FAQ

Plan identity, client spaces and studio systems with fewer unknowns.

Clear answers for tattoo studios, private artists, collectives, piercing teams, designers, landlords, fit-out partners and multi-location operators.

Can you convert our tattoo studio, piercing studio or artist logo into LED neon?

Usually, yes, but fine lines, gradients and small details may need to be simplified, separated or combined with printed or engraved acrylic so the identity remains recognisable and manufacturable. Share the best available vector file and identify protected elements. You approve the proposed interpretation before production.

How do we choose the right size for a storefront, reception or portfolio wall?

Start with the actual client viewpoint, viewing or camera distance, usable installation area, logo proportions, glass, daylight, room light, doors, screens, furniture and circulation. Send straight-on and wider client-route photos with measurements. A wall width alone is not enough.

What files, photos and studio information should we send first?

Send the best available logo or artwork file in AI, SVG, EPS or PDF format if possible, plus style references, a straight-on placement photo, a wider client-route photo, usable dimensions, viewing or camera distance, wall or glass, placement relative to procedure, sterilisation and handwashing zones, room light, nearest power point, cable direction, quantity, destination and target date.

Can an LED neon sign be installed behind or on studio glass?

Some glass projects are possible, but fixing permission, daylight, reflections, viewing direction, visibility from both sides, backing appearance, cable concealment, public contact and exposure must be reviewed. Send day, evening, straight-on and angled photos before choosing the specification.

Can we plan a portfolio, reveal or client photo wall?

Yes. Start with people and the intended framing rather than the empty wall. Mark client, artist and camera positions, common portrait, landscape and close-up crops, mirrors, background contrast, room light and dimmer needs. The preview is a planning aid and does not guarantee camera performance or social reach.

Can decorative LED neon be used as tattooing or piercing task lighting?

No. Decorative LED neon is a branding and atmosphere layer, not procedure, inspection, cleaning or sterilisation lighting. Dedicated functional lighting and local premises requirements remain separate. Placement must not obstruct cleaning, handwashing, instrument handling, storage, ventilation or safe working routes.

Can you make signs for a piercing and jewellery studio?

Yes. Share the studio logo, intended client-facing role and real placement. We plan the identity around reception, consultation or display context while keeping jewellery, consent, aftercare, hygiene and required information in their own functional systems.

Can we create a storefront, reception and portfolio-wall set?

Yes. Those three roles can be scoped as one coordinated Studio Identity Set. The set on this page is a planning framework, not a fixed-price bundle; final quantities, dimensions, specification, placements and pricing are confirmed in the quotation.

How should a collective handle individual artist names and guest artists?

Use the most permanent neon investment for the stable master studio identity. Keep frequently changing artists, guests, schedules, booking links and services in an updateable print or digital system. Individual neon artist marks make more sense only where the identity and room assignment are expected to remain stable.

Can you coordinate several rooms, artists or studio locations?

Yes. Share the master brand rules, room or location schedule, sign roles, artwork versions, quantities, local dimensions, wall or glass, work-zone boundaries, electrical requirements, permissions, destinations, installers and dates. We can coordinate visual consistency and delivery phasing while keeping local variables visible.

Who confirms premises, mounting, electrical and signage requirements?

The studio operator, property owner or landlord, fit-out team, relevant health, safety and electrical professionals and local authorities remain responsible for applicable requirements. Share wall or glass construction, hygiene-zone boundaries, mounting restrictions and the intended power route early; large, concealed, ceiling, exterior or unusual installations may require qualified local professionals.

How long will a tattoo or piercing studio project take?

Timing depends on artwork complexity, size, quantity, component split, indoor or exposed construction, studio, landlord or fit-out approvals, destination, approval speed and rollout phasing. Add the opening, refit, guest-artist or installation date to the first brief; the quotation confirms the feasible production and delivery plan before you order.
